Christian Cailleaux
He was born in 1967 in La Garenne-Colombes, on the outskirts of Paris, and graduated in Philosophy, later attending the National School of Art de Cergy. Illustrator (children's press, travel and general magazines) and advertising professional – as well as a terrible trumpet player, like his hero of Les Impostors –, traveled extensively throughout Africa, where he led numerous drawing workshops in about fifteen countries across the continent. This experience served as the backdrop for his first professional publication in the field of comics, about ten years ago: the adventures of Arthur Blanc-Nègre, two albums with scripts by Sallé, now out of print. He then wrote and illustrated most of his subsequent works himself. After two trips to India, in 2005 and 2006, his experiences on this new continent are recounted in Chai Masala, published in 2007. Also about travel and remote places, in 2008, in collaboration with the writer Bernard Giraudeau, he published a new album entitled R97 – Les Hommes à la Terre.
