Nasceu em Leicester, Reino Unido, em 1977. Leitor precoce de C.S. Lewis, Tolkien, Orson Scott Card e Terry Brooks, entre muitos outros autores de ficção científica e fantasia, começou a escrever aos 16 anos e foi publicado pela primeira vez aos 19. A sua obra ascende agora a cerca de 20 livros, com destaque para O Mistério de Alaizabel Cray, já publicado nesta colecção e vencedor do Silver Smarties Award. Os seus livros foram traduzidos para diversas línguas entre as quais o russo, o japonês, o búlgaro, o esloveno, o indonésio, o português e o alemão.
