O coronel Chris Hadfield é um dos astronautas mais experientes e de maior sucesso do mundo. Foi o melhor aluno da escola de pilotos de testes da Força Aérea dos EUA no ano em que se formou e piloto de teste do ano da Marinha dos EUA, em 1991. Em 1992, foi selecionado como astronauta. Foi diretor de operações da NASA na Rússia, chefe da divisão de Robótica no Centro Espacial Johnson e chefiou as operações na Estação Espacial Internacional, onde também exerceu o cargo de comandante. As suas espantosas fotografias tiradas do espaço e os seus projetos educativos sobre Astronomia valeram-lhe um reconhecimento a nível internacional.
