Depois da guerra, Chil Rajchman casa com Lila que lhe dará três filhos. Deixa a Polónia no fim de 1946 para ir viver no Uruguai. É testemunha em vários processos de antigos SS. Durante toda a sua vida, conserva o seu texto com ele e consulta-o cada vez que a memória lhe falha. Morre em 2004, em Montevideu, pedindo à sua família para publicar a sua história.
