Charlotte Roche nasceu em 1978 em High Wycombe, Inglaterra, e cresceu na Alemanha. Como apresentadora de televisão dos canais VIVA, 3SAT e ZDF, entre outros, recebeu o Prémio Grimme e o Prémio de Televisão da Baviera. Em 2008 publicou o seu primeiro romance, Zonas Húmidas (Caderno, 2009), que desencadeou um enorme debate, tornando-se o livro mais vendido do ano na Alemanha (dois milhões de exemplares). Charlotte Roche vive com o marido e a filha em Colónia.
