Cesar Vallejo
César Abraham Vallejo Mendoza (Santiago de Chuco, 1892 - Paris, 1938) was an avant-garde poet, unanimously considered by specialized critics as one of the greatest Hispanic-American poets of the 20th century and the greatest Peruvian poet[1], having also been a short story writer, novelist, playwright and essayist. According to the Uruguayan writer Mario Benedetti[2], he is the most influential poet in Hispanic-American literature today, along with Pablo Neruda, a poet who used to refer to the Peruvian as a better poet than himself.
