Cathy Kelly nasceu em Belfast e cresceu en Dublin. Iniciou a sua carreira num jornal nacional irlandês, onde foi editora de moda e de notícias, crítica cinematográfica e autora da popular coluna de conselhos «Dear Cathy». Actualmente colabora com o jornal Sunday World.
Editou o seu primeiro romance, Woman to Woman, em 1997, que se transformou de imediato num êxito de vendas e converteu Cathy Kelly numa autora reconhecida internacionalmente: os seus livros estão traduzidos em mais de quinze idiomas, com milhões de exemplares vendidos em todo o mundo. Algué Como Tu recebeu o prémio Romantic Novel of the Year, para o melhor romance do ano em 2001.
Actualmente, Cathy Kelly vive no condado de Wicklow, na Irlanda, com o companheiro e os filhos gémeos.
