Catarina João Capela Ribeiro é Professora Auxiliar da Faculdade de Educação e Psicologia da Católica no Porto, desde 2007. É doutorada em Psicologia pela Faculdade de Psicologia e de Ciências de Educação da Universidade do Porto com a Tese "Decisão Judicial em Casos de Abuso Sexual Intrafamiliar: Perspetivas, Experiências e Processos Psicológicos de Magistrados". É Psicóloga e Perita em Avaliação Psicológica Forense no Instituto Nacional de Medicina Legal e Ciências Forenses I.P.
Foi coordenadora da equipa de investigação portuguesa do projeto europeu FACT FORM MINORS - Fostering Alternative Care for Troubled Minors (JUST/2015/RCHI/AG/PROF/9578).
É Cocoordenadora da equipa de investigação portuguesa dos projetos europeus:
