She became a global icon by playing Princess Leia in the Star Wars series, a role that would stay with her throughout her life and career, and which led Disney to posthumously award her the title of Disney Legend in 2017.
Throughout her life, she battled the bipolar disorder she was diagnosed with and became one of the most important public voices advocating for mental health awareness.
