Carlos Nogueira é diretor da Cátedra José Saramago da Universidade de Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro, investigador integrado do CEL – Centro de Estudos em Letras (UTAD) e professor da Universidade de Vigo. Foi professor da Universidade Complutense de Madrid e investigador da Universidade Nova de Lisboa. Recebeu o Prémio de Ensaio Vergílio Ferreira (2022), o Prémio de Ensaio Jacinto do Prado Coelho (2019), o Prémio Montepio de Ensaio (2012, 2013 e 2014) e o Prémio Santander de Internacionalização da Produção Científica da FCSH / Universidade Nova de Lisboa (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014).
