Carlos André nasceu a 2 de Janeiro de 1953, em Monte Real, Leiria. Professor da Universidade de Coimbra e, actualmente, Professor Convidado do Instituto Politécnico de Macau, onde dirige o Centro Pedagógico e Científico da Língua Portuguesa, reparte a sua vida, desde 2013, entre Macau e o interior da República Popular da China.
