Carla Madeira nasceu em Belo Horizonte, no Brasil, em 1964. Abandonou um curso de Matemática para se formar em Jornalismo e Publicidade. Foi professora de Redação Publicitária na Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais e é sócia e diretora de criação da agência de comunicação Lápis Raro. Em 2014, lançou o seu primeiro romance, um sucesso editorial arrebatador que seria absolutamente confirmado com os lançamentos de A Natureza da Mordida, em 2018, e Véspera, em 2021, fazendo de Carla Madeira a autora mais lida no Brasil e a autora lusófona do momento.
