Camilo Martins de Oliveira
Born in 1942, Camilo Martins de Oliveira spent four decades outside of Portugal. From the ages of 25 to 27, he was a second lieutenant in the Chief Command of the Portuguese Armed Forces in Bissau. From 1969 to 1973, he was an advisor to the Secretary of State for Industry on international relations and Portugal's delegate to the OECD. From 1973 to 1982, he was director of the Office Commercial du Portugal in Brussels, as well as a specialist in UN missions. Between 1982 and 1987, he was the Portuguese Trade Commissioner in the USA, and was also appointed president of ICEP in 1986. In 1987 he chose to be stationed in Tokyo, where he resided until 2001, as Trade Commissioner for Japan and other countries, from South Korea to New Zealand. In 2004 he was the General Commissioner of Portugal at the Aichi World Expo (Japan).
