Brian Azzarello é um um dos mais conhecidos argumentistas dos comics americanos. A sua carreira iniciou-se na Vertigo, e um dos seus primeiros sucessos foi Johnny Double, que marcou também a sua primeira colaboração com Eduardo Risso, e que levaria pouco tempo depois ao lançamento de 100 Balas, talvez a mais conhecida obra desta dupla. Depois de muitos anos de trabalhos diversos para as principais editoras americanas, DC e Marvel, notabilizou-se mais recentemente pela sua colaboração com Frank Miller em The Master Race, a saga de Batman que é a conclusão de O Regresso do Cavaleiro das Trevas.
