Belén Ruiz de Gopegui was born in Madrid in 1963. With a degree in Law from the Autonomous University of Madrid, she worked for several newspapers and, in 1993, published her first novel with great success, maintaining an intense literary activity since then. She is considered one of the best writers of her generation, standing out for her persistent socio-political involvement and the constant search for the most original ways to express it.
