Bapsi Sidhwa nasceu em Karachi, no Paquistão, e cresceu na cidade de Lahore. É autora de quatro romances aclamados internacionalmente, traduzidos e publicados em diversos países da Ásia e da Europa, e distinguidos com prémios como o LiBeratur Prize (Alemanha) e o Sitara-I-Imtiaz, a mais prestigiada distinção paquistanesa no campo das artes.
