Aura Miguel é licenciada em Direito pela Universidade Católica Portuguesa, com pós-graduação em Ciências da Informação. É, desde 1985, jornalista da Rádio Renascença especializada em assuntos religiosos, com acreditação permanente junto da sala de imprensa da Santa Sé. É a jornalista portuguesa que mais vezes tem integrado a comitiva que viaja a bordo do avião papal, acompanhando regularmente os Papas nas suas viagens apostólicas, desde João Paulo II até ao Papa Francisco, passando por Bento XVI (em mais de 100 viagens).
