Arthur Coleman Danto

Arthur Coleman Danto (1924 - 2013) foi um filósofo e crítico de arte norte americano.

Embora tenha escrito sobre muitos assuntos (filosofia da ação, filosofia da história e filosofia do conhecimento) é mais conhecido pelo seu trabalho em estética. É um dos mais famosos representantes da estética analítica americana, embora se distancie claramente dela ao se basear na chamada obra filosófica "continental" (Hegel, Nietzsche, Sartre). Danto foi se afastando dos pensadores de referência de sua educação universitária americana, onde a escola analítica é prevalente. Além de sua teoria do "indistinguível", a sua visão da evolução da arte é profundamente inspirada no historicismo decretado por Hegel.
