Arménio Vieira

Arménio Vieira nasceu a 24 de janeiro de 1941 na cidade da Praia, Cabo Verde. Exerceu múltiplas atividades profissionais, tendo sido nomeadamente redator do extinto jornal Voz di Povo.
Como poeta e ficcionista publicou Poemas (1981), O Eleito do Sol (romance, 1990), No Inferno (romance, 1999), editado no ano seguinte em Portugal pela Caminho, e MITOgrafias (2006). Tem colaboração dispersa em várias publicações (Mákua, Alerta, Boletim de Cabo Verde, Imbondeiro, Vértice, Raízes, Ponto & Virgula, entre outras) e está incluído em diversas coletâneas.
Em 2009 foi-lhe atribuído o Prémio Camões. Helena Buescu, que presidiu ao júri, afirmou que Arménio Vieira "produziu uma obra que merece entrar para um certo cânone das literaturas em língua portuguesa". E o seu conterrâneo Germano Almeida definiu-o como "um dos maiores poetas do arquipélago".
