António Tavares nasceu no Lobito, Angola, em 1960. Formou-se em Direito pela Universidade de Coimbra e é pós-graduado em Direito da Comunicação pela mesma universidade. Foi jornalista e autarca e atualmente é professor. Escreveu peças de teatro e ensaios. Como romancista, foi finalista do Prémio LeYa e do Prémio Literário Fernando Namora com As Palavras Que Me Deverão Guiar Um Dia, venceu o Prémio LeYa em 2015 com O Coro dos Defuntos, o seu romance Todos os Dias Morrem Deuses recebeu uma menção honrosa no Prémio Literário Alves Redol e publicou ainda o romance Homens de Pó.
