António Lacerda Sales nasceu em Caldas da Rainha em 1962. Licenciado em Medicina pela Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de Coimbra, exerce a especialidade de Ortopedia no Centro Hospitalar de Leiria, agora integrado na Unidade Local de Saúde da Região de Leiria.
Eleito deputado, em 2015, pelo distrito de Leiria, à Assembleia da República na XIII Legislatura, e reeleito, em outubro de 2019, para a legislatura seguinte, exerceu o cargo de secretário de Estado da Saúde de 26 de outubro de 2019 a 17 de setembro de 2020. Foi secretário de Estado Adjunto e da Saúde a partir de 17 de setembro de 2020 até setembro de 2022, altura em que regressou ao Parlamento onde esteve como deputado até ao final da XV Legislatura.
Em 2024, regressou ao Serviço Nacional de Saúde, estando a exercer a sua atividade clínica na ULS da Região de Leiria. Desde as autárquicas de 2021 cumpre com o seu mandato como Presidente da Assembleia Municipal de Leiria.
