Magistrado do Ministério Público e Juiz de Direito; director-geral da Polícia Judiciária; Procurador-Geral Adjunto e Membro do Conselho Consultivo da Procuradoria-Geral da República. Coordenador da Informatização do Sistema Judiciário no Ministério da Justiça, de 1988 a 1996. Juiz-Conselheiro do Supremo Tribunal de Justiça (Secção Criminal), de 1999 a 31.05.03. Professor de "Direito da Informática", no IJC da Faculdade de Direito da Universidade de Coimbra, desde 1993. Publicou vários artigos em revistas de especialidade; é co-autor da obra "Direito da Informática".
