António Bracinha Vieira ensinou evolução na Universidade Nova de Lisboa, leccionando etologia animal e humana e paleoantropologia. Foi eleito primeiro presidente da Sociedade Portuguesa de Etologia. Publicou Etologia e Ciências Humanas (1983, Imprensa Nacional), Ensaios sobre a Evolução do Homem e da Linguagem (1995, Fim de Século) e numerosos textos sobre biologia evolutiva, entre os quais os capítulos "Emoção/Motivação", "Inato/Adquirido", "Percepção" e "Cognição", na versão portuguesa da Enciclopédia Einaudi (1996-2000, Imprensa Nacional). Pertence ao Centro de Filosofia das Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa.
