Antoine Galland

Antoine Galland (1646-1715) foi um orientalista, antiquário, colecionador e tradutor de manuscritos antigos. Galland ficou conhecido pela sua tradução de As Mil e Uma Noites, que lhe granjeou a imortalidade, ajudando-o também a preservar muitos outros manuscritos raros e antiguidades que, de outra forma, se teriam perdido. A sua tradução é mais uma versão livre dos manuscritos que utilizou, adaptando o texto final ao gosto e à moral do público francês.
