Anita Shreve

Born in Massachusetts, where she still resides, Anita Shreve graduated from Tufts University, became a teacher, and eventually embarked on a career in journalism after one of her stories won the O. Henry Prize in 1975, subsequently writing articles for magazines such as... Quest, Us and NewsweekLater, she published two non-fiction books based on articles published in The New York Times Magazine. In 1989, she abandoned journalism and dedicated herself solely to literature, achieving great international success – her works have sold over 7 million copies worldwide. In 1998, she received the PEN/L.L. Winship Award and the New England Book Award for fiction.
