Ana María Matute (Barcelona 1925) recebeu os prémios literários mais prestigiados pela sua obra, na qual figuram os romances Los Abel, Fiesta al Noroeste, Pequeño teatro, Los hijos muertos, Primera memoria, Los soldados lloran de noche, Olvidado Rey Gudú e Aranmanoth. Membro da Real Academia Española e da Hispanic Society of America. Em 2007 foi galardoada com o Premio Nacional de las Letras. Em 2009 a Planeta publicou Paraíso Inabitado. A 27 de Abril de 2011 recebeu o Prémio Cervantes, o mais prémio concedido da literatura em castelhano, corolário de uma carreira brilhante.
