Ana Maria Bessa nasceu no Porto, onde reside. É licenciada em Educação Visual e Tecnológica e pós-graduada em Educação Especial, pela Escola Superior de Educação Jean Piaget. Tem formação em Bibliotecas Escolares. Nas artes, participou em várias exposições coletivas e expôs individualmente, tendo vencido o Prémio Argo, promovido pela CM Gondomar e Ass. Artística Argo. Nas letras, venceu o Concurso Literário de Santo Tirso, na modalidade de poesia e integrou diversas antologias. Ilustrou alguns livros para crianças.
