Álvaro nasceu em 1970. Em 1993 licencia-se em Arquitectura na Faculdade de Arquitectura da Universidade Técnica de Lisboa, actividade que exerceu a tempo inteiro até finais da década de 90, tendo paulatinamente vindo a passar-se da elaboração de projectos de licenciamento para as aulas de formação profissional a adultos e de explicações a adolescentes.

Na área da Banda Desenhada já tem umas coisas editadas. Sexo, Mentiras e Fotocópias, Balcão Trauma (2 Vols.) e No Presépio..., este com argumento de José Pinto Carneiro e contemplado no Amadora BD 2014 com o prémio Melhor Álbum de Tiras de Humor.
