Pedro Almeida e Maia nasceu na cidade de Ponta Delgada em 1979. Estudou Psicologia Organizacional em Coimbra e em Barcelona, Espanha; trabalhou na Irlanda e regressou aos Açores em 2017.
Na literatura, realiza incursões em diversos estilos, da música à crónica, do ensaio ao argumento, da poesia ao conto.
Dos trabalhos já editados, entre eles Ilha-América e A Escrava Açoriana, alguns foram premiados ou encontram-se no Plano Regional de Leitura.
A Força das Sentenças, vencedor do Prémio Literário Manuel Teixeira Gomes, é a sua sétima publicação.
