Alice Cooper

Alice Cooper, born Vincent Damon Furnier on February 4, 1948 in Detroit, Michigan, is one of the most iconic and influential artists in rock history. Considered the "Godfather of Shock Rock", Cooper is known for his theatrical and macabre performances, which combine elements of horror, vaudeville and rock and roll, creating shows that defy norms and attract audiences for more than five decades.

Alice Cooper began his career in the late 60s as the leader of the band that bore his name. The Alice Cooper band gained notoriety with the release of albums such as Love It to Death (1971) and Killer (1971), which included hits such as "I'm Eighteen" and "Under My Wheels". However, it was the album School's Out (1972) that catapulted the band to stardom, with the title track becoming an anthem for generations of students.

The success continued with the album Billion Dollar Babies (1973), which cemented Alice Cooper as one of the biggest rock stars of the time. This album includes classics such as "No More Mr. Nice Guy" and "Elected". Cooper's live performances, which often included guillotines, electric chairs, snakes, and other theatrical elements, became legendary and helped define the genre of shock rock.

In the mid-70s, Vincent Furnier officially adopted the name Alice Cooper as his stage name and started a solo career. The album Welcome to My Nightmare (1975), the first of his solo career, was a great success and is considered one of his most important works. This album is also notable for its collaboration with producer Bob Ezrin, who would become a frequent collaborator of Cooper over the years.

During the 1980s, Cooper faced challenges related to alcohol abuse, but managed to make a triumphant comeback with the album Trash (1989), which included the hit "Poison". This success revitalized his career, leading to a new era of popularity during the '90s and 2000s, with releases such as Hey Stoopid (1991) and The Last Temptation (1994).

Alice Cooper is known not only for his music, but also for his cultural impact and influence on the world of rock. He inspired countless bands and artists with his theatrical approach and daring, and his image became synonymous with rebelliousness and irreverence in rock and roll. In addition to music, Cooper is also a media personality, having appeared in films, television shows, and even served as a radio announcer.

Over the course of his career, Alice Cooper has sold over 50 million albums worldwide and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2011.
