Ali Hazelwood nasceu em Itália, tendo depois vivido no Japão e na Alemanha antes de se mudar para os Estados Unidos da América para se doutorar em Neurociência. Tornou-se professora, ocupação que ainda a assusta de morte. É autora de vários artigos científicos, nos quais ninguém se beija e o «para sempre» nem sempre é feliz.
Depois de A Hipótese do Amor, o seu aclamado romance de estreia e um sucesso instantâneo, seguiram-se A Ciência do Amor, Odeio Amar-te, A Teoria do Amor, Noiva, Não é Amor e Até ao Fundo.
