Alfredo Conde

Alfredo Conde was born in Allariz (Ourense), in 1945.
He studied Nautical Engineering at the Higher School of the Civil Navy in A Coruña, and Philosophy and Letters at the University of Santiago de Compostela.
He holds an honorary doctorate from the University of Melbourne (Australia), and is a Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters of France.
He sailed on Spanish-flagged ocean liners and later taught at private schools.
Simultaneously, he served as a member of the Galician Parliament and as a cultural advisor to the Galician Government.
He is one of the greatest contemporary novelists in the Galician and Castilian languages.
His body of work is immense, spanning different genres: poetry, short stories, chronicles, and novels.
As a novelist, he stands out. El Grifón who was awarded the National Literature Prize (Spain), 1986, and Breixo, Spanish Prize for Literary Criticism, 1981.
His work has been translated into several languages.
The Blessed It is his most recent novel and the first book to be translated into Portuguese.
