Alexandre Vidal Porto nasceu em São Paulo e viveu em Fortaleza, Brasília, Nova Iorque, Santiago, Washington, Cidade do México, Tóquio e Frankfurt. É diplomata de carreira e mestre em Direito por Harvard. Foi colunista do jornal Folha de S. Paulo e escreveu no blogue da revista Bravo!. Antes do romance Sodomita (2023), o primeiro do autor a ser editado em Portugal, publicou os romances Matias na cidade (2005), Sergio Y. vai à América (2014, vencedor do Prémio Paraná de Literatura) e Cloro (2018, finalista do prémio Jabuti).
