Alexandra Bracken nasceu e cresceu no Arizona, Estados Unidos. Depois de terminar o ensino secundário, frequentou a Universidade William & Mary, na Virgínia, onde se formou em Inglês e História. Escreveu o seu primeiro romance no último ano de faculdade e depois mudou-se para Nova Iorque, onde trabalhou numa editora de livros infantis. Após seis anos, arriscou e decidiu passar a escrever a tempo inteiro. Atualmente, vive no Arizona, com o seu cão, Tennyson, numa casa cheia de livros.
