Albert King was one of the most influential blues guitarists and songwriters of all time, born Albert Nelson on April 25, 1923, in Indianola, Mississippi, and died on December 21, 1992. With his unique style of guitar playing and his raspy, expressive voice, Albert King became a blues legend and one of the pillars of the genre's evolution, influencing generations of musicians, especially when it came to the electric guitar in the blues.

King began his musical career in the 40s, but it was in the 1960s that he achieved great notoriety, especially after signing with Stax Records, one of the largest soul and blues labels of the time. His album Born Under a Bad Sign (1961), with the eponymous hit, became a blues landmark and is widely considered one of his masterpieces. The song "Born Under a Bad Sign" not only became a classic, but also helped define Albert King's guitar style, characterized by a unique use of the string bending technique, a style of playing in which he used a single-cable guitar (6-string guitar tuned in a special way). His ability to manipulate the notes and his strength in playing influenced guitarists of rock, blues and even other genres.

In addition to "Born Under a Bad Sign," Albert King was also famous for songs like "Crosscut Saw," "As the Years Go Passing By," and "I'm Going Down." He was one of the "Three Kings of the Blues", along with B.B. King and Freddie King, who helped define the sound of modern blues. Although his approach to the blues was more aggressive and electric, Albert King was known for the emotional depth of his performances and his ability to create intense guitar solos, full of soul and feeling.

King pioneered several guitar techniques, including the use of string bending and finger-playing rather than picking, which allowed him to produce a more expressive sound with greater dynamics.
