Albert Cohen
Albert Cohen (1895-1981) was born on the Greek island of Corfu, the only child of a Jewish family. In 1914, he moved to Geneva, where he studied law. Initially a high-ranking official at the League of Nations and later at the United Nations, Albert Cohen published a play and several memoirs, but owes his fame to the novel Beautiful Lord, awarded the Grand Prix du Roman by the French Academy in 1968.
