Alan Leo (Frederik William Alan) nasceu no Bairro de Wesminster em Londres, a 7 de agosto de 1860, às 5:49'36'' da manhã.
Dos 20 aos 25 anos, estimulado pelo astrólogo teosófico Sepharial, interessou-se por Astrologia.
Em 1890 fundou a revista The Astrologer's Magazine, com W. Lacey.
Esta revista teve muito sucesso, tendo passado a chamar-se Modern Astrology.
Tendo falecido em 1917, Alan Leo deixou seu herdeiro direto Charles Carter, tido como fundador da Astrologia Psicológica.
