Ailton Krenak
Ailton Krenak (born 1953) is one of the most respected activists in a long history of Aboriginal resistance and, in 2023, was the first Amerindian elected to the Brazilian Academy of Letters. He witnessed his people's territory being affected by environmental catastrophes resulting from the actions of mining companies, which he denounces as an example of the effects of humanity's voracious exploitation of the planet.
