Regressou a Portugal e foi convidada para a Univ.dos Açores.Criou o Center for English Speaking Cultures,foi Directora do Depart. de Línguas e Literaturas Modernas. Fez o Doutoramento em 1987 sobre a obra de Herman Melville: Moby-Dick A Ilha e o Mar - Metáforas do Carácter do Povo Americano. Obras publicadas:De emigração Tecido, Viagem ao Centro do Mundo, Regresso a Casa...; Nordeste: E no Princípio Era a Ilha (prosa poética) Foi Presidente do Inst.de Acção Social da RAA.
