Abel Mateus

Com um doutoramento em Economia na Universidade da Pensilvânia, Abel Mateus foi Diretor Executivo do Banco Europeu para a Reconstrução e Desenvolvimento. Antes disso, foi membro do conselho de administração e diretor executivo do Banco de Portugal, assim como membro da Comissão Monetária e do Comité de Política Económica da Comissão Europeia. Foi economista sénior no Banco Mundial, onde trabalhou com diversos países do Norte de África e da América Latina. Enquanto administrador do Banco de Portugal foi durante seis anos responsável pela política monetária em Portugal e pela adesão portuguesa à moeda única. Na sua carreira académica, é um dos cofundadores da NOVA – School of Business and Economics, onde também lecionou. Deu igualmente aulas na Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Universidade de Maryland, Universidade de Nova Iorque e University College de Londres. É autor de uma dezena de livros e de 150 artigos.
