ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Arnold Lobel

(Los Angeles, 1933 - Nova Iorque, 1987)
Estudou Arte no Pratt Institute, onde conheceu aquela que viria a ser a sua mulher, a ilustradora Anita Kempler. Começou a trabalhar para uma agência de publicidade e posteriormente dedicou-se à ilustração de livros escritos por outros autores. Em 1962 surgiu o seu primeiro livro, "A Zoo for Mister Muster", ao qual se seguiu um ano depois "A Holiday for Mister Muster". Como autor e ilustrador recebeu inúmeros reconhecimentos por parte do público e da crítica especializada. Entre os prémios que obteve, destacam-se o Caldecott Honour Book, o Christopher Award, o Caldecott Award e o Newbery Honour Book. Ao longo da sua trajectória, ilustrou cerca de 70 livros de outros escritores, aos quais se somam quase mais de uma trintena de livros escritos e ilustrados por ele próprio.
