Romain Puértolas

Romain Puértolas, de origem franco-espanhola, nasceu em Montpellier, em 1975. Levado pelas voltas do destino a Espanha e Inglaterra, foi DJ, professor de línguas, tradutor-intérprete, comissário de bordo e mágico. De regresso a França, trabalhou durante quatro anos como inspetor da polícia numa brigada especializada no desmantelamento de redes de imigração ilegal. Viciado confesso na escrita compulsiva, Puértolas fez a sua estreia no universo literário com A incrível viagem do faquir que ficou fechado num armário IKEA, publicado pela Porto Editora em 2014. Ainda antes do seu lançamento em França, o romance já havia conquistado mais de quarenta editoras estrangeiras, convertendo-se num fenómeno editorial mundial conhecido como «faquirmania». A menina que engoliu uma nuvem do tamanho da Torre Eiffel, o seu segundo romance, foi publicado também pela Porto Editora, em 2015.
Depois de ter exercido mil e uma profissões, Romain Puértolas decidiu dedicar-se por inteiro à escrita. Mas não foi nunca imperador.
