What do we mean by junk-in-their-trunk?

As we go through life we get hurt. We pick up fears, confusion, anger, loneliness, guilt, shame and other negatives. In my bookFive Fold Cycle - Method of Healing Personal Hurt,¹I describe them as Roots of Bitterness.

When we hold on tojunk in our trunk,old negative thoughts and memories, both conscious and un-conscious, tend to grow and develop. These hurts and traumas from the past become buttons that people can push. They are the underlying drives, emotions, feelings, motivations or decisions that run our lives.

When we realize that a situation is having a negative effect on our life, we have an opportunity to bring it to the Lord. He took everything on the Cross and from the Cross we receive His healing.
