I believe in the fairy tales and dreams of life. And why not? I’m living proof of it now. 

A person who messes everything up and gets their life back together again is my favourite kind of story, and that’s what I set out to do: to be my own hero.

A few years ago, doctors told me I had a deranged liver, inflamed stomach, and resting heart rate of 86. I weighed 21 stones and spent my life lost in pubs, nightclubs, football tops, being overweight, and eating horrible processed food every night.

But everything changed the day my little girl, Ava-Jane, was born. I made a promise that I would do everything I could to be a good example.

Although my progress since then has not all been straightforward - I’ve experienced a few false starts - I can finally say that I have succeeded in building a new life and a new me. One which I hope will make my little girl proud.
