SOBRE O AUTOR
Nicholas Blake
Nicholas Blake é o pseudónimo do poeta Cecil Day-Lewis. Nascido na Irlanda em 1904, Day-Lewis cresceu em Londres e licenciou-se pela Universidade de Oxford em 1927, tendo publicado em 1925 a sua primeira coletânea de poemas. De forma a conseguir um rendimento suplementar àquele que lhe advinha da sua obra lírica, trabalhou como professor, crítico literário e editor e, em 1935, lançou, com o pseudónimo Nicholas Blake, a sua primeira história policial, A Question of Proof, já protagonizada pelo atraente detetive Nigel Strangeways, que viria a marcar presença em quase todos os vinte romances de mistério que Blake assinaria. Em 1968, Cecil Day-Lewis foi nomeado Poeta Laureado do Reino Unido. Faleceu em 1972 em casa do escritor Kingsley Amis, seu amigo.
