HAVING HOPE is a women's fiction novel about Victoria DeFeo and her struggles when she realized that her husband, Evan and his family have secrets. Nobody talks about who is buried at St. Theresa's Cemetery. None of the young mothers have baby showers in the DeFeo/Vento family, until after the baby is born and is healthy. Victoria learns that there is a rare genetic disorder present in Evan's genealogy. His branch of the family learns that Evan and his brothers are also affected by this genetic trait.

Victoria and Evan already have a healthy son, Jacan, but they want to expand their young family, now that they are home owners. They seek genetic counseling only to be told that their chances for reoccurrence are significant. Everyone in Victoria's circle of family and friends are having normal pregnancy experiences. Victoria is in search of answers not only for her and Evan, but for Evan's brothers and cousins. Desperate to have another baby, Victoria considers other options besides sperm donations to become pregnant again.
