Margaret Mitchell

Margaret Mitchell nasceu a 8 de novembro de 1900, em Atlanta, Geórgia. Cresceu no seio de uma família próspera e politicamente ativa. Apesar da sua paixão pela escrita desde tenra idade, Mitchell começou por seguir uma carreira de jornalista.

Trabalhou como repórter no Atlanta Journal, onde aperfeiçoou suas habilidades de contadora de histórias e desenvolveu um profundo conhecimento da cultura e da história do Sul, que mais tarde influenciariam a sua obra.

Em 1926, uma lesão no tornozelo confinou Mitchell à sua casa, dando-lhe tempo e motivação para começar a escrever a sua obra-prima. Ao longo da década seguinte, ela pesquisou meticulosamente e elaborou "E tudo o vento levou".

Apesar do seu imenso sucesso, Mitchell manteve-se uma pessoa reservada e afastada dos olhares do público. Nunca mais publicou outro romance, concentrando-se antes na filantropia e no apoio a várias causas de caridade.

Tragicamente, a vida de Mitchell foi interrompida quando ela foi atropelada por um carro e morreu em 16 de agosto de 1949, aos 48 anos de idade.
