Amanda Hocking

Nascida a 12 de Julho de 1984, Amanda Hocking vive em Austin, no estado de Minnesota. Começou a contar e a escrever histórias desde muito cedo, e aos 17 anos terminou o seu primeiro romance. Estudava, trabalhava, e nas horas livres continuava a escrever, desenfreadamente. Tentou vender os seus romances a mais de 50 editoras, mas sem sucesso. Um dia, a precisar de dinheiro, decidiu publicá-los em formato digital (e-book) e comercializá-los em sites como a Amazon. No primeiro dia vendeu cinco livros. No segundo, outros cinco. Hoje vende quase dez mil por dia... Com o sucesso online começou a loucura: vários dos maiores editores americanos fizeram-lhe ofertas milionárias. Acabou por assinar um contrato de sonho, ao vender a sua trilogia por dois milhões de dólares - e pouco tempo depois uma produtora cinematográfica adquiriu os direitos para cinema.
