SOBRE O AUTOR

Hiromi Kawakami

Hiromi Kawakami nasceu em Tóquio, em 1958. Dedicou-se ao ensino até à publicação do seu primeiro livro de contos, Kamisama, que lhe granjeou o Prémio Pascal. Em 1996, conquistou o Prémio Akutagawa por Hebi wo fumu (Hebi ou Fumu), e, em 2000, o prémio Ito Sei e o Woman Writer’s por Oboreru (Abandonar-se à Paixão). Um ano mais tarde, ganhou o prestigiado Prémio Tanizaki pelo romance Sensei no kaban (O Céu é Azul, a Terra, Branca), posteriormente galardoado com o Man Asian Literary Prize e adaptado ao cinema. Seguiram-se Algo que Brilha como o Mar, O Senhor Nakano e as Mulheres, Manazuru, Vidas Frágeis, Noites Escuras e Os Amores do Senhor Nishino. Do seu currículo constam ainda os prémios Yomuiri (Suisei), Izumi Kyoka (Okina tori ni sarawaranai yo) e MEXT Art Encouragement. As suas obras, que incluem ficção (contos e romances), não-ficção e poesia, foram traduzidas em mais de 15 línguas. É uma das escritoras contemporâneas populares do Japão.
