SOBRE O AUTOR

Eliot Weinberger

Eliot Weinberger (n. 1949) nasceu em Nova Iorque, onde ainda vive. Tradutor e editor, é conhecido sobretudo pela sua obra ensaística, dificilmente classificável, e muito alimentada pela História, e as histórias, das culturas asiática e hispano-americana. Tradutor da poesia de Bei Dao e editor da antologia de poesia chinesa clássica da New Directions, conta entre as suas traduções de poesia a obra de Octavio Paz e, na não-ficção, de Jorge Luis Borges. Os seus ensaios, traduzidos para cerca de trinta línguas, são presença assídua no New York Review of Books e no London Review of Books. Em Portugal, encontra-se publicado «Uma Coisa Elementar» (Bazarov, 2020), primeira parte de um ensaio em série de que «Os Espíritos das Aves» constitui a sequência.
